Leaving Lake Morena today - driving through the wind, wires and weeds of the back country of San Diego . . . lost soles who haven't been on these fence posts before . . . boots baking in the hot afternoon sun.

You've seen them, they're everywhere - in the best neighborhoods, in the poorest neighborhoods . . . forever traveling solo, abandoned by the side of the road. How do they usually become separated from their mirror twin? How do they manage to hang from overhead wires, the lucky ones, discarded with their mates - hanging by a shoelace, evenly divided? Untouched and unmoved - this is exactly how I find them and how I leave them. Aren't they fun?

i see we have something in common, you have one of the closest collections in scope to mine that I have seen. You have many found in many states, pretty cool. I have over 300 and counting photographed so far since 2004, many in the same areas as yours. Mine have taken on a life of their own for sure, the stories of the shoes go far beyond anything I thought they would. Many of which dedicated to an actual lost soul.
Happy Sole searching!
